PEEKABOO WITCH DUCK Quick printing & assembly guide Press the BODY down to reveal the ghost duck. Release it and the spring raises the body and hides him again. Keep both feet on a table; press the body, not the hat. YOU WILL NEED - All 13 parts in STL/ (white, orange and black; no multicolor printer needed). - One compression spring: 0.6 mm wire, 7 mm OUTSIDE diameter, 25 mm free length, 12 coils. Your assortment label reads 0.6 x 7 x 25 MM, 12 LAPS. - Glue, black/orange paint, and a small flat screwdriver. PRINTING Print at 100% scale. The assembled duck is about 126 mm tall. Start with PLA, 0.20 mm layers, 2 perimeters and 10% infill. Try 0.15 mm layers for the latch pin if needed. The STLs are already oriented. Use supports where needed, especially inside the body and hat, under the carriage and bill, and beneath the curled hat tip. The duck ghost rod prints standing up for detail. Use brim on duck body, duck ghost rod, and top of witch hat. The latch pin prints lying down for strength; support rounded areas as needed. Clear all supports from guides, holes and latch tracks. Check the slicer preview before printing. COLORS White: body, ghost duck/rod, bottom cover, latch pin. Orange: two feet, leg carriage, large bill, hatband. Black: two large eyes, brim, upper hat. Paint the ghost duck's molded eyes black and its little bill orange. ASSEMBLY — TRY THE FITS BEFORE GLUING 1. Slide the bottom cover onto the bare legs from below, with its tall guides upward and latch holes toward the tail. Do this BEFORE adding feet. 2. Fit the feet, check both soles sit flat, then glue their joints. 3. Place the spring on the carriage's center seat. Lower the body over the carriage, guiding the spring into its channel. 4. Feed the ghost's square rod through the head opening and spring into the carriage socket. Face the ghost forward. Seat fully; glue the rod into leg carriage. 5. Hold the body and feet together against the spring. Seat the bottom cover, align the latch holes, and install the pin using the directions below. 6. Press the body gently. Check about 10 mm of smooth travel and spring return. Clear any rough spots or leftover supports before continuing. 7. Glue the brim's ring into the head. Glue the band onto the upper hat, then glue the ghost's TOP stem into the socket inside that hat. Face the buckle forward. Keep glue away from the center opening and moving hat joint. 8. Glue on the large bill and eyes. Paint the ghost's face. LEAVE UNGLUED: bottom cover, latch pin, rod-to-carriage joint and moving parts. QUARTER-TURN LATCH Directions are viewed looking directly at the pin head. LOCK: Insert from the duck's right side with the slot horizontal. If the unequal tabs do not line up, rotate the pin 180 degrees and try again. Turn CLOCKWISE 90 degrees to the stop. Gently draw it outward about 0.6 mm into its locking pockets. The slot is now vertical; the curved head matches the body. A thin blunt tool through the opposite hole can help seat it. UNLOCK: Press inward about 0.6 mm, turn COUNTERCLOCKWISE 90 degrees, then withdraw. After unlocking, a blunt tool up to 1.5 mm through the opposite hole can help push it out. Use light pressure. This is not a screw or a spring-loaded click latch. Seat it outward after locking. Never force, glue or eject it while locked. The pin's curved head matches the duck, not the flat test-block face. OPENING & TROUBLESHOOTING Lift the hat/ghost/rod out together. Hold the body and feet together, unlock the pin, and lift the body off the carriage while keeping hold of the spring. Carry the finished duck by its body, not the removable hat. If it sticks, check for support residue, a crooked rod or a poorly seated spring. Do not force it or immediately switch to a stronger spring.
