Bender Release Notes v1.1.0 - THE T114 FREE UPDATE!! Thank you for purchasing Bender! If you are based outside of the UK you will find a list of the required hardware and links to purchase at the bottom of this document. If you are based in the UK you can purchase a hardware kit direct from my website with pre-soldered battery cable at zerofox3d.com (available again soon) **** Printing Notes **** Printing Bender is easy and doesn't take long at all! Both STL and Prusa Slicer 3MF files are provided, I recommend using the latter as a couple have custom support enforcers/blockers but I will detail these below for each file. I recommend printing at standard 0.2 layer height, I always test in the "Quality" preset in Prusa Slicer and always print in PLA or PLA+. Note that printing in PETG may result in poor fitting as it has different tolerances. The friction clips that are used to assemble Bender have fine tolerances so this advice is best heeded. Bender is broken down into several parts, you could combine them on to a single build plate but I recommend printing each separately as it reduces layer printing time which improves quality. There are now folders containing files for Bothe the Heltec V3 and Heltec T114. Assembly is the same. Hardware used is the same. **** The V3 parts are as follows: ** BenderBackCoverV2.stl / .3mf ** This is the rear battery cover, prints without any supports, simple one! ** BenderBodySideAntV1.stl / .3mf ** This is the main body with side antenna hole (I prefer this to the top hole variant as it fits in a pocket more easily) Prints with organic supports enabled on the build plate ONLY. The supports will remove easily and only support internal structure where the surfaces are never seen. There will also be some support around the USB port and antenna mount but this comes away easily with no visible signs it was there. Adhesion to the bed is important with this print as it connects to the front and rear covers. If you have trouble enabling a brim will help and should not compromise the final quality. ** BenderBodyTopAntV1.stl / .3mf ** This is the main body with top antenna hole (good if your unit is remaining stationary) Prints with organic supports enabled on the build plate ONLY. The supports will remove easily and only support internal structure where the surfaces are never seen. There will also be some support around the USB port but this comes away easily with no visible signs it was there. Adhesion to the bed is important with this print as it connects to the front and rear covers. If you have trouble enabling a brim will help and should not compromise the final quality. ** BenderFrontV1NOM.stl / .3mf ** This this is the front cover, prints without any supports, simple one! ** BenderFrontWSwitchV1NOM.stl / .3mf ** This this is the front cover with included power switch. Prints with organic supports using a support enforcer under the recess for the power switch. ** FrontSwitchV1.stl / .3mf ** This is the switch for the above front cover, the quickest print you will ever do. ** BenderAntennaV1.stl / .3mf ** This is the custom housing for the original Heltec antenna that ships with the V3. Prints with organic supports enabled on the build plate ONLY and also has a custom support blocker which prevents the supports continuing all the way up the centre of than main antenna housing where they would be impossible to remove. The organic supports will remove easily and only support a few small, but important overhangs. ** BenderSMAHexToolV1.stl / .3mf ** This is the hex tool for tightening the SMA connector nut if using the SMA connector. No support needed, quick print! **** The T114 parts are as follows: ** BenderT114BodySideV1.stl / .3mf Body with side mounted antenna. Prints with organic supports enabled on the build plate ONLY. The supports will remove easily and only support internal structure where the surfaces are never seen. ** BenderT114BodyTopV1.stl / .3mf ** Body with top mounted antenna. Prints with organic supports enabled on the build plate ONLY. The supports will remove easily and only support internal structure where the surfaces are never seen. ** BenderT114FrontNoSwitchV1.stl / .3mf ** Front panel with no switch. Prints without support. ** BenderT114FrontWSwitchV1.stl / .3mf ** Front panel with switch. Prints with support ideally just under the switch using a support enforcer or just on the build plate. ** BenderT114SolarStopperV1.stl / .3mf ** Small bung to fill the solar charging port hole. You will need to print the BenderBackCover, FrontSwitch and SMAHexTool from the V3 files as well (they share them) **** Assembly **** Check the intro video on my Youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/@zerofox3d I've also finally made an assembly video: https://youtu.be/sjKEy4P9SJw (The T114 version assembles in the same way) **** REQUIRED Hardware **** 18650 battery. Standard 3.7v, widely available so I won't link to any! Single 18650 Battery holder with measurements no larger than 76mm x 21mm. These are extremely common in the popular online market places, you can see an example here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C5ZY2TRN SMA Female to U.FL IPX IPEX Pigtail Cable in 5-10cm length (any longer it gets tight) Again very common and easy to find, I have used a common brand called Tuolink that are good quality, you can see an example here: https://a.co/d/2CLpgLD Optional for power switch: 3mm 2 Position Micro slide switch. Again these are very common, only issue being you are going to own quite a few of them because they always come in packs of 20+ but are very cheap! Example here: https://a.co/d/f5rqQYA Releases V1.1.0 - Added Bender Heltec T114 Edition files. V1.0.4 - Revised back cover with new branding :-) V1.0.3 - Updated to remove the M. Yeah.
