FITA - Skull Bound by a Golden Ribbon ===================================== A display sculpture: an anatomical skull wrapped by one continuous ribbon. Size: 127 x 166 x 222 mm (W x D x H). Fits any 256 mm class printer. FILES - FITA_skull_and_base.stl skull + base (ivory / bone colour) - FITA_ribbon_gold.stl the ribbon (gold) The two STLs share the same origin. Load them together and they line up exactly. TWO COLOURS (PrusaSlicer / OrcaSlicer, MMU or multi-tool) 1. Drag both STLs into the slicer at the same time. 2. When asked "Load these files as a single object with multiple parts?", answer Yes. 3. Assign filament 1 (ivory) to "FITA_skull_and_base" and filament 2 (gold) to "FITA_ribbon_gold". 4. Set support material and support interface to filament 1, so gold is only used on the ribbon. ONE COLOUR Load both STLs as a single object with multiple parts (step 2 above) and print with one filament. RECOMMENDED SETTINGS (tested on a Bambu Lab X2D, 0.4 mm nozzle, PLA) - Layer height 0.16 mm, 3 walls, 12% gyroid infill - Tree / organic supports, overhang threshold 30 degrees, supports from the build plate and on the model - Brim: auto (keep it on) - Two colours: about 23 h, 299 g ivory + 89 g gold (Bambu, with prime tower) - One colour: about 14 h, 285 g - Silk gold or metallic PLA makes the ribbon shine. A matte ivory or bone PLA for the skull. TIPS - Remove the supports under the jaw and the front loop slowly with pliers: the ribbon is thin where it floats.
